Research Interests

My research concerns itself with thin coatings, with a special focus on their mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. I aim to develop a fundamental understanding of those aspects relevant for technological applications with a view to manufacturing, processing and degradation. These include deformation behaviour, performance and structure of thin films and multilayers. For my research I am fortunate to have access to experimental techniques such as FIB-SEM (focused ion beam – scanning electron microscopy) and Synchrotron XRD (X-ray diffraction).
